Welcome to Zambia Institute of Diplomacy and International Studies

The institute is a statutory body established through an Act of parliament in 1995. Its mandate is to conduct training in diplomacy and international relations; as well as to offer consultancies workshops and seminars in related fields. In connection with the foregoing, the institute has been conducting intensive monthly certificate courses in Diplomatic Practice, Protocol and Public Relations, which are covered in one hundred (100) contact hours. Participants from all walks of life are welcome to participate in the course.

This includes participants from Government Ministries/Departments, Banks, Private sector organizations, NGOs, Churches, Political Parties, interested individuals, etc. Participants from outside Lusaka and those outside Zambia are also welcome to participate.

Mission Statement:

“To provide, on a sustained basis, relevant, up-to-date training, research, consultancy and short-term and long-term courses in diplomacy and international relations for enhancing performance of government, public and private sector operators.”

Vision Statement:

“A centre of excellence for training, research and consultancy in diplomacy and international relations by 2030.”

Mandate:

The primary mandate of ZIDIS is to conduct training in Diplomacy and International Relations. The mandate is derived from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs portfolio functions of Gazette Notice number 836 of 2016.

The institute’s aim is to deliver relevant training to Foreign Service officers to represent the interests of the Republic of Zambia in relation to the international community.

The Zambia Institute of Diplomacy and International Studies (ZIDIS) prides itself on employing highly skilled instructors. These instructors have expertise in various aspects of diplomacy and international relations, ensuring that students receive quality education and guidance.
